Hi! My name is Jackie. I’m a 30-something living in San Francisco, CA working in tech during the day, and driving my fiancé bonkers with my packages at night (just kidding, both him and the doorman are very understanding).
The idea for this blog came to me when a close friend stared at my jammies during a group trip (Lunya’s) and asked, “Were they worth it, though?”. Like many I get bombarded daily with hordes of Instagram and Facebook ads on the hot new products and D2C goods. I wanted to create a place to speak to the purchases that really excited me and to see if these things were truly disruptors, or just plain disruptive to my feed (and pocketbook).
I also frankly want to justify some of the purchases in the name of…ahem..research. 🙂
Here are some basic stats:
- I’m a female in my 30s
- I’m currently in the Bay Area – so the weather is temperate year round but tends to get chilly at night and in the winter months (but no snow!)
- My office environment is casual, although I try to keep it uptown casual. However in Covid-19 times, I’m admittedly more of a “work mullet”: work on top, PJs on the bottom
- My basic go-to’s are brands like: Theory, James Perse, Stuart Weitzman, Parker etc. for casual wear I really like Lulu (I know, shocking)
- I’m particularly interested in clothes (basics), skincare and dermatology, pet items, fitness/lifestyle items and jewelry
FAQS:
Are you trendy?
I actually think I’m the total opposite – I’m very not trendy at all. My traditional go-to’s tend to be well fitting classics like Theory and James Perse.
If you’re not trendy, then why bother trying trendy things?
I love beautiful things, and I think a lot of the new D2C brands are both fascinating and polarizing. Sometimes they’re all hype..but sometimes they’re amazing and worth every penny! Also, I’m a big believer in loving what you own and everything that you bring in to your home, so I’m hoping my POV might be another data point in your big purchase decisions 🙂
